Hi support folks..

I'm currently redeveloping our website in Joomla 3.4, & VM 3 and am using the VMLAB template as my starting point.

I followed the setup instructions provided and enabled the Flexslider slideshow in Position 12 (boxed). I created custom html modules for slide1, slide2 and slide3 and was able to set the content to my requirements.

It is a requirement of this site that changes can be made from the front end by an appropriately authorized user. However, when editing the content of slide1, slide2 or slide3, the original custom position is not available in the position drop down box and the edited content is moved to a position that is... in my case ParallaxLab.

It appears that only positions that are properly declared within the template definition itself are available to the front end editor. Obviously this is a deal breaker.

Can you please advise the best course of action to take from this point.

The test site is located at I would be willing to provide temporary backend access if required.

Thanks in anticipation - Anton

Further to my last, it appears that this is an issue with Joomla itself, rather than the VMLAB template. However, it could be avoided by declaring these positions in templateDetails.xml rather than having folks create a custom position.

I am going to try and find a work-around (probably by editing templateDetails.xml)

I'll report back with my progress.

I can confirm that adding the custom positions to templateDetails.xml causes the positions to become available within the frontend editor.

    e.g. <position>slide1</position>

I would still strongly suggest that all positions used within the template be properly declared.

    Just my 2¢
